Microcosms of a Future South Africa
2022, exhibition identity
The exhibition examined the SOMAFCO and Dakawa education and development centres in Tanzania, which provided refuge, learning, and cultural exchange for South Africans in exile during apartheid.

Through archival material, spatial analysis, and design research, the project traced how these centres became radical experiments in decolonial education and living, while revealing the entanglements between the African National Congress, international solidarity networks, and the architectural expertise of the GDR during the Cold War. Presented at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation as part of the Bauhaus Lab 2022, it reflected on education as a space of resistance and transformation.
